This year’s league race was one of the most interesting in recent times. It went down to the very last minute. Falcons, who were top of the league table for most part of the season, fumbled when it mattered the most.
They lost three consecutive matches before their final game against Steve Biko, which they convincingly won 4-2, but it was a little too late. They very well had the league in their palm but dropped it. Was it the pressure? Or perhaps fatigue. No one can tell. But what is clear is that this is they fumbled it. And this might be the closest they would come to sniffing the title.
Real went into the final game knowing fully well they only needed a draw to clinch the title, and they made sure to get the job done. As winners, Real is One million dalasi richer.
Waa Banjul on the other hand went into the game, knowing they also needed a draw to stay out of the relegation.
Meanwhile, the once feared Gamtel has relegated. Although a 2-1 victory over Team Rhino, telecom giants could will be playing in the second-tier next season. They managed only eight wins.
Another giant that fell into the pit is Hawks. They will join Gamtel in the second division next season.
